Artist Bio
Mr. Liu Kuo-sung (born April 26, 1932), is a Taiwanese painter. He began studying traditional Chinese painting at the age of 14 in Wuchang, switched to Western painting at 20, and returned to the world of ink and paper at 29 to create what later became known as “modern ink painting.”
He settled in Taiwan in 1949 and has served as Head of the Department of Fine Arts at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, visiting professor at the University of Iowa and the University of Wisconsin, Director of the Graduate Institute at Tainan National University of the Arts, and honorary professor at several major universities and art academies in China. He is currently a Chair Professor at National Taiwan Normal University and Director of the Institute of Contemporary Ink Art at Shanghai Institute of Visual Arts. He is widely honored as the “Father of Modern Ink Painting in Taiwan.”Tech Specifics
