Mr. Sun Xiaofeng, born in 1972 in Chenghai, Guangdong, graduated from the Fine Arts Department of South China Normal University in 1994. He is an artist and curator, formerly the Deputy Director of the Extension Department of the Guangdong Museum of Art, and currently a member of the museum’s Academic Committee.
Rising to fame in the late 1990s with his cartoon-style paintings, he shifted toward ink experimentation in 2007. After his 2012 solo exhibition “Empty Lines,” his practice expanded into mixed-media creation. Drawing inspiration from everyday objects, his works blend ink wash, collage, and other techniques, with the Taihu Stone series exemplifying his elegant and tranquil aesthetic.
He has curated exhibitions such as “Permeation · Transposition and Imagination” and “Guangzhou Station,” and has participated in international art events including the 2nd Guangzhou Triennial and the 5th Gwangju Biennale. In 2022, he held the solo exhibition “Cicada in Winter” at Shangrong Art Museum. His works are held in the collections of institutions such as the Guangdong Museum of Art and the Guan Shanyue Art Museum.
